By separating analysing the expression patterns of GHS-R1a-GFP and GHS-R1b-GFP, and co-expressing these receptor pairs with the non-GFP-tagged form of the receptor, we could demonstrate the range of interactions affecting GHS-R1a expression at the cell surface. Although GHS-R1b could not form dimers with itself or with non-GHS-R1a-related proteins, it could readily dimerize with GHS-R1a.
