Identifying GHS-R1a in subcellular fractions

In this example, we have added a luciferase protein tag to the C-terminal of the ghrelin receptor. When the subcellular fractions have been isolated, we can add the luciferase enzyme substrate, and if luciferase-containing proteins are present will be detect a luminescent signal. In this way, we can see that GHS-R1a-Rluc is present in subcellular fractions associated with the plasma membrane and that GHS-R1b-Rluc is associated with subcellular fractions containing the ER.
