How fluorescence microscopy has changed the way we view DRG cells

By using antibodies which recognise specific proteins associated with neurons (green), glial cells (red), and cell nuclei (blue), we can now better see the tangled web of connections that cells make.  DRG neurons come in several sizes, and the smaller neurons are those principally responsible for transmitting pain signals.
